Announcements for Sunday, July 25, 2010
Scrip gift card orders will be collected after worship today by Cathy Mielke. See the enclosed order form for all of your shopping needs. We encourage everyone’s participation to raise money through this program to help support the church’s budget. Cards ordered today will be ready for distribution next Sunday. Thank you!
Backpacks for Kids—Back to school is the second largest retail season of the year next to Christmas, and it often puts a particular financial strain on families in need with school children. For this reason, the Waunakee Ecumenical Board, Joining Forces with Families, and Waunakee Neighborhood Connection are teaming up to collect donations of backpacks for Waunakee school children in need. Donations of new backpacks for kids in grades K-12 are being accepted in the Narthex area throughout July. Donations can also be made through the church office. Checks can be made out to the Waunakee Ecumenical Board. Thank you in advance for supporting those in need in our community.
Crossroad’s Concert on the Square night will be Wednesday, July 28th. Please join us for an evening of music featuring the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. They will be presenting “Summer Nights in Vienna” featuring dancers from the Madison Ballet. Please contact Patsy Manion (469-1303) for more details and to reserve some blanket space for you.
HERO HEADQUARTERS…Where kids join forces with God! VBS is for children ages 3-12. Vacation Bible school needs lots of volunteers. We need someone for crafts and games, as well as those for the classes. Registration begins July 16, and it starts August 2 – Thursday August 5. Please contact Heather Murray if you have any questions and want to volunteer! (608) 849-4048.
Dramatic type youth or adult is needed for opening dramas during VBS! All 4 nights! The role needed is—-Pizza Man. A speedy hero who has 30 minutes or less to save the world and deliver a tasty pizza. He zips in and zips out. You need to be able to commit to all four days of VBS ! (No spandex I promise) I only have enough materials for one set of costumes. The drama begins each night right after the meal.
Please see the list below for props needed for VBS. Donated props can be left in the old youth room, next to the supply closet. There are a bunch of items I need for the opening skit, as well. If you can help or have questions, call Tressie Hook at (608) 576-4354.
