Announcements for Sunday, August 1, 2010

Next COA’s Luncheon is August 13, at 12:30 pm. Call Roselyn Warren for reservations. Ph. 849-5451.

Reminder! Worship for August 15th is at the Village Park gazebo at 9:30am. Bring your own lawn chair or sit at a picnic table.

BACK TO SCHOOL TIME is just around the corner.  Please make your school supply purchases with our fundraising Scrip cards by placing an order today with the enclosed order form.  Patsy Manion will be collecting all orders after worship.  YOUR NEXT TIME TO PLACE AN ORDER will not be until AUGUST 22.  If you have any questions regarding the Scrip program, please contact Patsy.

Pastor Sharon is planning a fun activity for the adults during VBS. We will have our own classroom activity, based not on superheroes, but on the classic TV show M*A*S*H. Each night, we will watch one or two episodes, then have a discussion about some of the major themes and theological concepts that were present. Included: a captain who thinks he’s Jesus, and a mass desertion of the 4077th when Hawkeye declares Rosie’s Bar a new country, exempt from the war.

Since I’ll be teaching this class, I won’t be able to take pictures of the kids. But we need someone to do this important job. Without pictures, there can be no great slideshow to share in worship the next Sunday. There will be no new photos for our website. This is a great job for anyone, including high school students, and I can even provide my digital camera if you don’t have one. Your sole responsibility is to wander around and take a ton of pictures of the kids having fun.

Please call the office to let us know if:

1) You are interested in coming to M*A*S*H VBS. We’d like to get a sense of numbers, but anyone is welcome to show up. Invite your friends and neighbors!

2) You are interested in being our VBS photographer.

Thanks!

Crossroads Family—Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your help with Waunafest this year!  Despite a rainy start and soggy work area we served the community and did well financially.  It looks like we will meet, even exceed the amount we had budgeted for our 2010 Waunafest fundraiser, that’s always a good thing!  Hopefully along the way you had fun working with others from the congregation and enjoyed Waunafest.  Special thanks to those who took on supervisory duties: Irene Steinl, Gary Richardson, Jim & Pattie Hook, Bob Tietz, Julie Frentz, and J.R. Hribar and your crews.  We couldn’t do this without everyone’s help and commitment!
