Announcements for Sunday, March 4, 2012
We need new Porchlight Ministry coordinators. We would like to thank Susan Rather and Jeff Tews for their years of commitment to this ministry. They are stepping out of their role of ‘co-coordinators,’ thus creating a need and opportunity for someone to step in to this role. If you are not familiar with this ministry, or would like to know how you could become involved, please see/call Margo Collins for more information. Today is our next turn to provide the meal.

Join us today as we host an educational speaker who will talk about autism. It will take place at 11:30 p.m. and we will have a light lunch. The youth group will provide child care.
Stations of the Cross—The Stations of the Cross are an ancient way to experience the last day of Jesus’ life, and they are often part of a Good Friday worship service. Our Good Friday service this year will include a modified form of the Stations of the Cross. But many of us have no previous experience with this tradition. So please join Pastor Sharon for a 5-week class during lent. Beginning February 28, we’ll meet on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. We’ll learn the history and evolution of this practice, as well as looking at the images and meanings of the individual stations. The more classes you can attend, the more sense it will make, but you are invited to come whenever you can. If you are planning to attend, please let the church office know.
Join the Fun on March 10…The Women’s Group is sponsoring a workday on Saturday, March 10, to sew Little Dresses for Africa. We had so much fun at the recent Fall Retreat that we would like to sew more pillowcase dresses. We also want to sew shorts from adult-size T-shirts for the boys. We need people to sew, cut fabric, pin, pull elastic through the fabric, iron, etc. You don’t have to know how to sew to be a helpful volunteer for this mission project. There is something for everyone. If you can sew, please bring your sewing machine and help set up at 9:00 a.m. All other workday enthusiasts can show up to participate at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be provided. We will finish our day around 3:00 p.m. with cleanup. Just in case we have a snowstorm, our alternate workday will be Saturday, March 17. Mark your calendars now! Hope to see you on Saturday, March 10! If you have any questions, please call Nancy Koch, Women’s Group chairperson, at 846-7949.
Newsletters — just to remind everyone, beginning March first we will only mail the newsletter out to those who do NOT have email, UNLESS you call the office and let us know. And if we only have your work email and want it sent to your home address you will need to let me know that as well. Thanks.
