Serving

helping handsAt Crossroads we have many unique opportunities for you to use the spiritual gifts, talents, and skills God gave you. We have ways to serve that fit your availability, whether you have a few hours a year, a month or a week. There are ways to serve God and others whether you are home bound, want to work at the church, or want to work in our community.

Take time to discover opportunities to serve with one-time projects, regular ongoing needs, team activities, or even community projects. The time you will spend is not only for God and others, but also for you. Serving in a way that fits the purpose God planned for you is personally fulfilling and its rewards are eternal.

Men’s Work Groups

Crossroads Men at WorkAt Crossroads, we are blessed to have active Men’s and Women’s fellowship groups. The Women’s Group has recently been very successful in establishing food circles that provide food to members or the congregation during times of need. The men are now looking to establish a service opportunity as well.  We are organizing interested men to help out with a wide variety of work projects. Tasks may include painting, heavy lifting before and after church events, changing light bulbs, helping out Trustees, yard work, etc. We may even branch out into helping members in their homes, if there is a need.

We understand that you are busy, and you may not always be able to help out. The way we are organizing this ministry means that when you are called, you will have the choice to say yes or no, depending on your current schedule. The more men we have on the list, the easier it will be for us to get the number of people we need for the job. If you are interested in participating, please contact Bob Tietz, Kathy Grant at 849-5672 or our church office. *Currently all our food circle participants are women, and all our work team members are men. But anyone is welcome to sign up to serve in ways that use their gifts best.

Calling All Crafters!Holiday Craft Sale

Do you knit, crochet, stamp, sew or make other crafts? If so we would like to expand our craft table at the Cookie and Candy sale in December. Start your projects now and let us know you are participating so we can make room. This is a great fund raiser for our church and missions. Questions?  call Lynne Adam at 849-7795 or contact our church office.

 Prayer Shawl Ministry Needs Help

Shawl MinistryWhat is a prayer shawl? It is a simple knitted or crocheted shawl given to anyone in need of comfort. It may be a long term illness, birth of a new baby, or loss of a family member. If you want to be a part of this ministry, all you have to do is make the shawls and bring them into the office. We will get them to those who need them. If you know of folks who need a shawl, please let us know.

Ongoing Volunteer Needs

Please contact the church office if you are interested in serving in any of these ongoing volunteer needs:

  • Volunteers to help plan future fellowship events such as a biking trip, CPR classes, campout, music sharing, or any idea you may have.
  • People to provide rides to members on Sunday.
  • Volunteer to provide food for our fellowship time on a Sunday morning.
  • Help with our ongoing worship needs with such things as greeters, ushers, readers, childcare, acolytes, and providing food for our fellowship time.
