Crossroads feels it is important to not only reach out to those in our country and world, but to also ensure that we help those in our communities. Here are some of the recent and ongoing ways we support those in need in the Waunakee area.
Habitat Madison Build
In 2009 we supported the Habitat for Humanity Dane County Build in Northport, just a few miles from our church. We provided funds, meals, and prayers, but most importantly provided bodies and sweat to help build a home for a Madison family. We are so excited to see the family move in, and to help continue this great program through our efforts.
Porchlight
Porchlight, Inc. is a Madison, WI based company that provides emergency shelter, food, employment services, counseling, and affordable transitional and permanent housing. Their primary mission is to meet the needs of homeless people in the Dane County area through services designed to foster independence and the transition into permanent housing and employment.
Crossroads helps Porchlight in that mission through providing meals for their homeless shelter on a near monthly basis, as well providing funding and collecting items such as bedding.
Waunakee Neighborhood Connection
Waunakee Neighborhood Connection (WNC) is a local 501(c)3 charity that helps Waunakee families in need with such items as clothing, linens, kitchenware, appliances, furniture, toiletries, laundry soap, and so much more. Crossroads has partnered with WNC to help collect items for their annual laundry soap and diapers drive, and in 2009 even worked together on a garage sale to benefit both organizations.
Waunakee Ecumenical Board & Food Pantry
Crossroads provide representation from our church to the Waunakee Ecumenical Board (WEB), which runs the Waunakee Food Pantry and provides funding for such things as financial assistance and Thanksgiving meals for those in need in the Waunakee area. Crossroads also partners with the food pantry by doing ongoing collections of donations of food items and personal hygiene products.
