At Crossroads, we have several small groups that meet regularly to aid in connecting our family together outside of weekly worship. From time to time we also have groups which meet for a short duration for such things as a specific topic bible study, book club, or special event. Here is a list of our small groups which meet more regularly. You can also read our newsletter to find out about any other events happening in the church this month.
Youth “Super Saints” Group
Youth group is currently taking a break for the summer. The Crossroads youth group, the Super Saints, is open to all youth currently in grades 7-12. We meet every Sunday afternoon during the school year from 4:00-5:30pm at the church to explore our faith while building relationships with God and with one another. We do this through games, discussions, mission trips, service and other activities. One youth writes, “Our youth group makes learning more about our faith fun, and this is what helps us become closer to god. We can take each of our ideas and use them to learn and open our mind to what others may believe.”
Music Groups
Crossroads currently has two music teams that meet regularly throughout the school year. Our adult choir meets weekly on Wednesday nights from 7-8:30pm and sings most Sundays during service. They are a large, fun-loving group lead by music director Bill Hofeldt, who sign a large variation of different styles of music. Our praise team, meets once a month on the Thursday night before the last Sunday of the month from 7-8:30pm. The praise team consists of a band (bass and lead guitar, drums, and piano), as well as a group of vocalists. They perform praise & worship music during our monthly praise Sunday (typically the last Sunday of the month during the school year). New members are welcome any time during the year, and can sing regularly or for just one Sunday. Read more about our music groups in our worship section of our website.
Men’s Group
Our men’s group join in fellowship to have fun and to do special projects for the church, church “family”, and others in need of help. Regular events include an annual camping trip and a monthly breakfast at Spring Garden Restaurant in Waunakee, on the first Saturday of every month at 7am. Interested? Feel free to join them any month at breakfast, or contact Dave Duchnowski or the church for more information.
Women’s Group
Women of all ages are welcome to join in fellowship for special occasions at the church and to do special events throughout the year. The women’s group meets the second Monday night at 7pm of every month during the school year. Annual events include the Women’s Breakfast and Craft, retreat to Pine Lake, and the AppleFest. Interested? Contact Heather Murry or the church for more information.
Crossroads Older Adults (COA)
COA began as a way for older adults moving into the Waunakee area to get acquainted with one another. As new condo, townhouse, and senior living housing encouraged older adults leaving their homes to move to this growing community, Crossroads UMC wanted to help them feel at home and meet new people. The second Friday of the month (12:30 p.m.) features a catered lunch, good fellowship, and often a brief program. Anyone in the community is welcome who is able to attend at this time. Reservations are required, the cost is very reasonable, and a call to Roselyn Warren at (608) 849-5451 will save a seat at the table just for you. Just a fun and delicious event awaits you!
Cookie Cutters Quilters Group
A group of quilting enthusiasts meet the first Monday of every month at the church at 6:00pm to make quilts for those in need of comfort in our church and community. You need not be a quilter to join them. There are lots of ways to help without even sewing. Want to learn how to quilt? Come and join them some Monday evening and start to learn.
