Crossroads is blessed with strong lay leadership which is organized into ministry teams. Here you will find a brief description of what each group is responsible for, as well as the ministry team chair contact information. If you are interested in becoming part of one of these ministry teams, or would like to learn more about the activities and service each group does for our church, feel free to contact the church office, or visit our Serving page to find out about current opportunities we need help with.
Church Council – Meets 3rd Thursday of each month and consists of leaders from other various church teams, plus our lay leader, our web coordinator and pastor. They are responsible for overseeing the all aspects of church functions, and ensuring our teams are working together to accomplish our church’s mission and ministry plan. Church Council chair is Sean Murray. Lynne Adam serves as council vice chair, and also fulfills the role of church treasurer.
Staff & Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) - Meets the 2nd Thursday of each month, and focuses on the “Human Resources” functions of our church. They support the work of the pastor and church staff, facilitating cooperation and relationship between members and staff. They monitor and support the goals of the church and work to see that the church remains faithful to our mission. SPRC chair is Charlene Khazae.
Finance & Stewardship Ministry- Meets at 6 pm at the Church on the third Thursday of the month and is responsible for the fiscal viability of the Church. They monitor expenditures, develop annual budgets and perform long-run financial planning. They strive to find the financial means to support all the activities, programs and mission of the Church. Finance Ministry chair is Jim Walker. Jim also chairs the stewardship ministry which promotes and manages awareness events for all areas of congregational stewardship, which includes giving of one’s self, time, talents and treasures. Lynne Adamserves as our church treasurer, and Bob Tietz as financial secretary.
Trustees - Meets the 2nd Monday of each month and is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and use of all church facilities and grounds. Trustees are nominated by the church at the annual meeting. Trustee chair is Julie Frentz.
Member Nurture Ministry– The mission of the member nurture ministry at Crossroads is to provide support, fellowship opportunities and resources for members and friends of Crossroads. This ministry is made of teams of people and individuals each with a specific focus. The activities team meets every other month to ensure there are ongoing fellowship activities for all ages occurring at Crossroads. Individuals participating in the ride-share ministry provide transportation to church services and other church functions as needed. The food ministry circles provide food for church events or meals to members at their homes if needs arise. The overall coordinator for this ministry is Irene Steinl.
Outreach Ministry - Meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month and is is responsible for sharing opportunities with people in our community and beyond to get involved with Crossroads’ growing faith family. We communicate with Waunakee and the greater Madison area through various projects such as events, publications, mailings, signage and website updates. Outreach also nurtures those in our church family as they consider membership in our congregation. Outreach Ministry chair is Lurene Swenson.
Youth Ministry - Aids the pastor in planning and facilitating youth ministry events, including weekly youth group meetings during the school year, and special events such as camping and retreats. Youth Ministry Counselors are Bruce Koch, Jen Koch, and Tressie Hook.
Christian Education Ministry - Manages Crossroad’s children’s and adult education opportunities, including our weekly education time after service during the school year, adult bible studies and our summer vacation bible school. Christian Education co-chairs are Linda Stouffer and Loree von Ruden.
Missions Ministry - Educates, coordinates and promotes mission service opportunities to our congregation, coordinating with local, national and international charitable organizations where appropriate. Missions Ministry chair is Jeff Tews. Our mission coordinators are: Jeff Tews for Dane County Habitat for Humanity; Margo Collins & Susan Rather for Porchlight, Inc.; Rod Grant for CROP Walk; Irene Steinl for Relay for Life; Terri Willihnganz for Waunakee Ecumenical Board (WEB); Lurene Swenson for Waunakee Neighborhood Connection (WNC); Lynn Weiss for Waunakee Food Pantry;
Lay Leadership Ministry – Recruits members to fill vacancies on ministry teams and facilitates the involvement of church members in every area of ministry. Lay Leadership chair is Pastor Sharon Cook.
Helping Hand Office Ministry – Provides assistance to church staff to help with assembly and distribution of bulletins, newsletters and other mass mailings. Office Ministry is coordinated by Pattie Hook.
