Because we are a congregation of the United Methodist Church, we work to live out the mission, vision and purpose of our denomination, conference, and local church.
The mission of the United Methodist Church (UMC) is:
“To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”
The vision of the Wisconsin Conference of the UMC is:
“Live, Give, Love … Beyond all expectation.”
The purpose of Crossroads UMC is:
“To provide the greatest experience of God to the greatest number of people”.
So how does Crossroads live out that purpose?
We currently have a team that is working with Pastor Sharon, on just that question. How to live out our mission, vision and purpose at our church to best serve our God, our world and our community. Stay tuned for more information from our “dream team” coming this summer.
But what is a “Methodist”?
In the words of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, “A Methodist is … one who loves the Lord his God with all his heart, with all his soul, with all his mind, and with all his strength”.
Today, John Wesley’s teaching is still important to United Methodists:
- the goal of being faithful disciples of Jesus Christ
- the examples of sharing God through missions
- concern with social problems in our world
- openness to ecumenism
